InsightBuilder® 2 is built on a modular API that allows Polar Design to distribute software updates, add new features or customize existing ones efficiently and rapidly.  This API also permits tight integration of 3rd party software with InsightBuilder by authorized InsightBuilder® developers and partners.

IB2 centralizes content access and editing security, but keeps it as extensive as an organization needs it to be, controlling read, write and deletion rights for entire web sites or individual documents.

An object-oriented database layer ensure that InsightBuilder 2 integrates readily with many ODBC compliant databases. More important, it allows administrators to create document "assemblies" from a range of sub-objects, enhancing reusability of text or graphics, and improving the speed with which system-wide content changes are deployed to different documents.

IB2 features a host of innovations that save people's time. A few of them include its unique application of object-oriented content that allows for efficient content reuse, the ability to apply multiple document templates to a single set of content, and an intelligent publishing features that refreshes documents when related or linked content changes.

With role and group based security, InsightBuilder® 2 permits your organization to assign access and security to individuals based on their “role” in content management, as well as their department, management or other affiliations. Security profiles can be created for an entire site or individual objects, and can be varied across different language versions or server locations.

Multiple encoding schemes for published documents and IB2 user interfaces guarantee support for your content regardless of its language. Additionally, customizable workflow allows inclusion of internal or external translators and editors in the content review and revision process.

InsightBuilder® fully separates content from presentation, and allows production of multiple document types by utilizing a combination of XSL templates to transform data into XML, which is then parsed into users’ desired formatting. Unlike competing or homegrown XML/XSL content management solutions based primarily on Xalan or Xerces, InsightBuilder® offers superior workflow, multi-lingual, security and other support as well flexible publication.

Control when completed content is published, or plan when existing content is deleted. In combination with distributed publishing, administrators can vary when content appears based on language, server location, or document format.

InsightBuilder® 2 utilizes publication to distribute most content. This allows administrators to use the most efficient Internet or Intranet page serving technologies, Apache and IIS. Nonetheless, InsightBuilder® stores, publishes and even can edit PHP, ASP or ColdFusion script templates, as well as deploy them remotely to servers of any platform.

Save past versions of documents or content objects as they change over time. Revert to prior versions of a specific document, or even past "snapshots" of an entire web site, Intranet or document store.

Since content is separated from presentation, InsightBuilder® 2 is able to publish one set of data into many different layouts or document types, which can be in turn controlled to appear or not based on a number of parameters. Besides saving time to reauthor similar content to different layouts, this feature also improves e-business functions.

Publish and send documents to one or more locations, whether on the same server as IB2, insider your LAN, or on a remote server. IB2 even includes built-in FTP and HTTPS transfer support with sophisticated handling of communications with remote servers.
